Holy Confession
Ιερά Εξομολόγησις
Holy Confession
Confession is the sacrament of repentance and reconciliation — an unhurried conversation with Christ in the presence of His priest, who serves as witness and spiritual father. It is offered as preparation for Holy Communion, especially during the four fasting seasons, and at any time pastoral care is needed.
Requirements and Preparation
Confession is offered to baptized Orthodox Christians. No appointment is too small. The conversation is held in strict confidence under the seal of confession.
Questions Families Often Ask
- How often should I confess?
- There is no fixed rule. Many faithful confess at least once during each of the four fasting seasons. The priest can help you discern a rhythm appropriate to your spiritual life.
- How do I prepare?
- Set aside quiet time for prayer and self-examination. The priest will guide the conversation. There is no need to memorize a formula.
